Information Collected by ASA
ASA collects and utilizes different kinds of information from users of the ASA website. It is the policy of ASA that data will be used for internal purposes only -- to help ASA better serve its members, subscribers and visitors. It is ASA’s policy to collect and store only personal information that our members, subscribers and visitors knowingly provide. The data compiled is considered confidential. ASA does not sell, rent, share, or otherwise dispose of the personal information collected to entities outside of the organization. ASA may disclose your personal information if required by law or in the good-faith belief that such disclosure is necessary to comply with law.
ASA does not collect any personal information from users browsing its website. Users of the public areas of ASA’s website browse anonymously. ASA collects the email addresses of those who communicate with ASA, with its subsidiaries and with its agents via email and for those who register for certain sections of the ASA website. ASA also collects information volunteered by users, such as survey information and/or site registrations. This information is kept confidential by ASA and is used for internal purposes only.
Credit card information is collected from an individual when joining or renewing a membership, registering for an educational course, or event, or purchasing other services. These data are submitted voluntarily. Similar information may be submitted to ASA through membership applications, conference or seminar registrations, and subscriptions. ASA may also ask for your address, phone number, and/or email address when you submit an abstract or paper, complete a survey, register for a conference, apply for membership, or on other occasions. In each case, our objective is to have your contact information so that we can serve you better.
From time to time, ASA may use your address, phone number, or email address to provide you with updates and other information that we think may be of interest to you. Additionally, via some emails sent in HTML format by ASA to its members and e-newsletter subscribers, ASA may collect specific information regarding what the recipient does with that email. For those emails, ASA may monitor whether a recipient subsequently clicks through to links provided in the message. Other information collected through this tracking feature includes: email address of a user, name of the list from which the message was sent, and destination page. ASA will only use this information to enhance its services and distribution of those services to its members and other subscribers. This information will not be distributed in any other manner without user consent.
How does ASA use Data Collected?
ASA uses information voluntarily submitted by members and others to ASA directly and/or to one of its subsidiaries or agents, in the following ways:

ASA and its direct subsidiaries use data collected to maintain the user’s membership, to maintain subscription to ASA's e-newsletters and to provide requested services (i.e., short courses, boot camps and events).
To gain access to members-only resources and personalization features on the ASA website, members are asked to use their member number and password.
Disclosures to Third Parties
ASA may make member contact information available to other members through the “members only” portions on its website. ASA does not sell member information to anyone. Member personal information is not shared with third parties other than those acting as agents of ASA and as directed by ASA.
Credit Card Account Information
ASA does not disclose or store credit card account information provided by its members, subscribers and customers. When members, subscribers and customers choose to pay using their credit cards, the credit card information is transmitted via a secure encryption provided by some third-party services such as FormSmarts, PayPal, Eventbrite, WIX and as such.
